Gun Tattoos

Gun tattoos are often seen as a tough symbol. They tend to be an emblem of strength and the security a person feels knowing that they are protected. Although this design is favored by men, many women also feel that this rugged symbol applies to the strong, unyielding nature of their own personality.

Many gun tattoos feature the weapon by itself. It is not unusual to see two guns placed on either hip, for easy access, as with a holster. They are also frequently seen along the top of each shoulder blade, or on the lower stomach, so as to give the appearance of being lodged below a person’s belt. Although it is quite common to see modern hand guns, shotguns, and even machine guns, it can be very unique to use a more antique equivalent. For instance, a long barreled Colt revolver from the 1800′s might make for an interesting choice. With this variety of gun, you could expand on your design by adding scroll work patterns to the barrel, gems and wood to the butt.

Some gun tattoos show the weapon in action. Fire could be bursting from the barrel; a bullet may be flying from the tip, and possibly piercing the skin of the wearer. Some people like their gun tattoos to depict a variety of meanings. An example of this would be to place a small, delicate flower blooming from the cold metal barrel of the gun. This could easily be a representation of peace, or show the contrast between the fragile beauty of life, and the hard reality of death.

Less common, but equally interesting, are gun tattoos featuring people. It is not unusual to see the image of a hunter or gangster brandishing his gun. Another example would of either a prim Victorian lady polishing her pearl handled pistol; or a curvy pulp fiction character pressing the silver muzzle of her revolver against bright red, pouty lips.

Although most gun tattoos are meant to convey the character of a determined personality, it is not unusual for them to also be an expression of duality, sensuality and potency.

Bow Tattoos

The days of people, and women in particular, being frowned upon for having tattoos are long gone. These days’ tattoos are rightly seen by many as an art form. The choice of design and standard of workmanship is ever increasing, fuelled by an increasingly hungry market. The rise of celebrities who sport tattoos has meant increasing numbers of their fans have opted to be inked. The tattoos people choose to have are changing too, tribal tattoos have replaced skulls and anchors in the popularity stakes for men and women are increasingly adapting tattoos to suit their personal tastes. Flowers, stars, butterflies and bows tattoos are all popular choices for women.

Women and girls have historically worn bows on their clothes and in their hair as a fashion statement. It is therefore a logical progression to have them tattooed on their bodies. As women we can spend hours getting ready to go out, choosing our clothes and putting on make-up, when you have a bow tattoo you are already half way there! You wash it every time you shower and after the initial inking it takes no time to apply.

When choosing any tattoo the position is vital, bow tattoos are no different. Think carefully where you want your tattoo inked; after all it is difficult to move later! This decision may be a matter of personal preference or could be driven by practical considerations. If you work in a conservative environment or have a quieter personality, it may be best to have a tattoo that is easy to cover during working hours, on your hip or lower back for example. If on the other hand you are an extrovert who can, and wants, to display their tattoos all the time a wrist or ankle tattoo would be a good choice. Many women choose to have bows tattooed on their hips or shoulders. A particularly effective way of displaying bow tattoos is to link them to an inked ribbon, of the same color, that loops around a finger, wrist or ankle. In this way your tattoo can look like a piece of inked jewellery.

A bow tied in a string around your finger can be used to remind you of something, bow tattoos can be used in the same way, to remind you of a special event, the birth of a child or wedding for example. Historically bows were used in art to represent the fragility of life, as they are both easily unravelled. The color of bows is also significant, yellow bows tied around a tree are a sign that someone is awaiting the return of a loved one, who is away at war or on a journey. Pink bows and ribbons are worn by women to support other women suffering from breast cancer and to honor those who have lost this battle.

These are powerful symbols, it is therefore important to think carefully about which is a suitable tattoo for you. Choose something that has personal significance for you, it is your statement to the world; it will be with you for a long time to come.

Megan Fox’s Rib Tattoo Photoshopped Out Of Magazine Cover

While most people would agree that Megan Fox has a perfect body, even she couldn’t escape couldn’t escape being Photoshopped in the may issue of France’s Grazia magazine. But unlike most publications, Megan didn’t go under the digital knife to cover up cellulite or shrink her waistline; Instead, the editors of Grazia erased her back tattoo!

While one of Megan’s tattoos, a quote from William Shakespeare‘s King Lear, was shown in the picture, her other inking, a Nietzsche quote, was completely wiped out!

The magazine editors clearly didn’t mind her Shakespeare tattoo which reads: “We will all laugh at gilded butterflies,” but took issue with the words by the German philosopher, reading, “And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.”

However, on the inside pages of the same edition of the magazine, the exact same shot of Megan is shown – with her tattoo along her rib cage still intact.

The Transformers actress is known for her love of skin art and has a total of eight tattoos throughout her body. Last year, Megan revealed that she was undergoing laser surgery to have a portrait of Marilyn Monroe removed from her forearm. “It is a negative character, as she suffered from personality disorders and was bipolar,” Megan said. “I do not want to attract this kind of negative energy in my life.”

Megan Fox, Tattoo Removal Is "Incredibly Painful"

Megan Fox is still stuck with Marilyn Monroe. Or, more specifically, a tattoo of the Hollywood icon.

Nearly a year after it became pretty obvious that she was working on losing the image of Marilyn from her forearm, Fox reveals on Ellen today that she has yet to get it completely taken off.

"You are having a tattoo removed," Ellen DeGeneres says while bringing up the topic. "It's more painful than getting a tattoo from what I've heard."

"I've only done one session on it, but it is incredibly, incredibly painful," replies Fox. "Wherever the ink is, the laser hits it and it sort of pops up like little pieces of popcorn and explodes your skin. It's really awful. So kids, don't ever get tattoos!"

Unless, of course, exploding skin is your thing.
