Review- Croak By Gina Damico

 Review- Croak By Gina Damico

I have to say I loved this book! This book has a little bit of everything from the paranormal, to friendships, romance, humor and so much more. If you enjoy snarky and sarcastic main characters you're gonna love Lex!

I highly recommend this book!

Here is the Amazon summary in case you haven't heard of this book and think it would be something you want to read!

Fed up with her wild behavior, sixteen-year-old Lex’s parents ship her off to upstate
New York to live with her Uncle Mort for the summer, hoping that a few months of
dirty farm work will whip her back into shape. But Uncle Mort’s true occupation is
much dirtier than shoveling manure.
He’s a Grim Reaper. And he’s going to teach Lex the family business.
She quickly assimilates into the peculiar world of Croak, a town populated by
reapers who deliver souls from this life to the next. But Lex can’t stop her desire for
justice—or is it vengeance?—whenever she encounters a murder victim, craving to
stop the attackers before they can strike again. Will she ditch Croak and go rogue with
her reaper skills?

Spoilers begin here!!!

Here is my personal review and thoughts on this book-

I have to say I loved the idea of this book of a Grim reaper in training in sounded so intriguing and fresh.  I love reading books that have very strong female characters and Lex was that and more. Right when she found out she was a Grim reaper, I just knew she was going to be better than most. Her feelings when she killed showed that but I didn't expect her to be able to damn people that was really cool. I felt so bad when her twin died that was just so emotional but it left off for a second novel which is good. I can't wait for Lex to go get her revenge.

I loved the growing friendship and eventual romance between Driggs and Lex it was just too perfect. Their sarcastic banter and remarks just made the book. The cutest thing was him telling her that she was the girl in the picture he carried and that he always had a crush on her. Awwwww!!

I didn't trust Zara from the beginning I knew there had to be something up with her. Glad she turned out to be evil because now Lex gets to kill her and Zara can go away. Then all will be right in the world.

I just have to say that I thought the famous dead characters were one of the funniest parts of the book!!!

Divergent- Book Review

Divergent- Book Review

By- Veronica Roth

I had seen this book on Barnes & Noble and saw it compared to two very good books I read called The Hunger Games and The Maze Runner. So I got the book but never picked it up. As I began getting really into reading book blogs, I saw so many people talking about Divergent. Mainly, OnceUponATwilight
(I love their blog go check it out) I had also recently been reading many dystopian novels and decided to give this one a try.

So where is the summary if you haven't read this book and feel like checking it out
Amazon Description-

In Beatrice Prior’s dystopian Chicago world, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is—she can’t have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles alongside her fellow initiates to live out the choice they have made. Together they must undergo extreme physical tests of endurance and intense psychological simulations, some with devastating consequences. As initiation transforms them all, Tris must determine who her friends really are—and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes exasperating boy fits into the life she's chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she's kept hidden from everyone because she's been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers unrest and growing conflict that threaten to unravel her seemingly perfect society, she also learns that her secret might help her save those she loves . . . or it might destroy her.

***Major Spoilers Up Ahead Be Aware***
My Review-

I thought the premise of the book was so original and creative. The idea of sectioning people off my how they think and their personality rather than race or religion was so intriguing to me.  This book sucked me in right away. I really connected well with Tris (Beatrice). Her inner struggles on whether to stay with her family or transfer were really touching and inspiring.

When Beatrice switched to Dauntless right before you could see her hesitation you could see where Divergent was coming from. I liked the thought that someone couldn’t just think one way but feel in several ways if that makes sense. I thought it was so funny how the Dauntless kids jumped from the train but after thinking about it sounds so cool and would be a great adrenaline rush.

I loved Tris’ bravery when she jumped first you could start to see that she really had some Dauntless in her. Meeting Four or rather Tobias I thought right away there was going to be some romance. He singled her out and was tougher on her than the rest but for her own good because he knew she could do it. They are so cute! I love when Tobias told her that being selfless and being brave aren’t that different and I totally got that.

The end was so not what I was expecting I had to go back and reread apart of it. I almost cried when both her parents died for her.  Also when she stood between Marcus and Tobias that was just epic.

So I can’t wait to see what happens next in the sequel Insurgent which comes out in less than a month.

Cinder- Book Review

Image Detail

Cinder (Lunar Chronicles #1)- Book Review

By Marissa Meyer

Good Reads Summary

Humans and androids crowd the raucous streets of New Beijing. A deadly plague ravages the population. From space, a ruthless lunar people watch, waiting to make their move. No one knows that Earth’s fate hinges on one girl. . . .

Cinder, a gifted mechanic, is a cyborg. She’s a second-class citizen with a mysterious past, reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister’s illness. But when her life becomes intertwined with the handsome Prince Kai’s, she suddenly finds herself at the center of an intergalactic struggle, and a forbidden attraction. Caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal, she must uncover secrets about her past in order to protect her world’s future.

My Review-

Cinder was a strange and different take on your average retelling of the Cinderella story. It was so sad when Peony got infected. You could tell how much Cinder loved her throughout the whole story. I loved the romance that began to form with Cinder and Kai, I want to see more of that in the coming books. They would be perfect for each other. The whole novel I knew there was something off with the doctor and Cinder's back story.

After they began talking about Princess Selene I knew it had to be Cinder why else would it have been done. Plus I want Cinder to be with Kai so that would just be another girl to get in the way. I felt so bad when you find out the Doctor was Lunar and his daughter was a shell which is why he wanted to help Cinder so much.

I really hated Levana, major bitch. She controls her people with mind control, makes herself appear beautiful too. She is trying to destroy Earth. And now she wants to kill Cinder. In the next book I really want Cinder to kill her or doing something bad to her lol.

So that was my review, if you read Cinder comment below and tell me what you thought of it. Also the next book for revew is Divergent. I already read it was amazing. Team Dauntless!

Paranormalcy- Book Review

Paranormalcy- Book Review

It is by Kiersten White

Summary

Paranormalcy follows the main character Evelyn who lives at the IPCA the International Paranormal Control Association. This idea reminds me of the show Sanctuary of Syfy which is great by the way. They detain and neuter paranormals like vampires, werewolves, and fairies. Evelyn has lived most of her life there working for them. She is special though because she can see through glamour that hides the true identity of a paranormal. She is being stalked by a fairy for what reason she is unsure. Someone is killing paranormals. A mysterious paranormal named Lend comes to IPCA who can change what he looks like. Evie feels oddly attracted to him. He makes her realize that she might not be human and that there a much bigger things in store for her.

My Review-

I would recommend this book it is a great story that has romance, fantasy, and adventure. I really loved the plot. Evie was a great character. In the book she was obsessed with a show called Easton Heights which reminds me a lot of Secret life of the American Teenager. I also found it funny how a girl who never went to school thought lockers were the coolest things ever. I loved her relationship with Lend they were so good for each other. Her power was really cool and different. This whole story’s plot line was very creative it had different elements that I have read about but put together was a great story.

My Week With Marilyn - Movie Review

My Week With Marilyn- Movie Review

For me there isn't a ton to say about this movie. I thought it was pretty good. It really portrayed Marilyn's life. Everyone used her. They druged her up used her for her fame. She had a really horrible childhood and just wanted someone to love her. It was really sad in many ways. I thought Michelle Willams was great in it. I would love to read the book and learn more about her life.

Weekly Review- The Vampire Diaries Season 3 Ep18

Vampire Diaries Songs: Music From Season 3, Episode 18, “The Murder of One”

Weekly Review- The Vampire Diaries Season 3 Ep18

The Vampire Diaries Recap of Season 3, Episode 18, “The Murder of One”: How the Tables Have TurnedThis week’s episode was pretty good. For awhile there they were getting boring. But since Damon and Stefan made stakes of the white oak I was so expecting an original to die and surely one did. Fin was staked but he really wasn’t the one who I wanted to see die, he wanted to die anyway. It was sad though because he finally got reunited with Sage and he is dead.  Killing one should have killed all originals but Klaus got Bonnie to undo the spell, with a lot of threats on her mother and Jeremy though. Rebekah captured Damon and drained him of blood so he was no longer under the influence of vervain. She was able to find out how many stakes they actually had.

Rebekah and Klaus in Season 3, Episode 18: “The Murder of One”For me the show had to great parts to it. First there was finding a redeemable quality to Rebekah she really isn’t that bad. I feel sorry for her she just wants to be loved and have a family. Klaus doesn’t really care about her and would let any of them die to save him and she knows that now. And after Damon tricked her into sleeping with her and had no feelings for her you just feel horrible for her.  The second is that Stefan asked Elena is she had no feelings for Damon and she wasn’t sure. Delena is slowly coming true she just needs to realize that Damon is the better guy because he is.

Also the few cliff hangers that always happen. If you kill an original everyone from their blood line dies, every vampire they turned and they turned and so on. Thing is Damon and Stefan aren’t sure whose they are from. Katherine was turned by Rose but who turned her. And that means if you kill Klaus Tyler dies.  Also Alaric crazy alter ego stole his stake so if he kills the original that turned Rose then Stefan, Damon, Katherine, Caroline, and Bonnie’s mom will be dead.

Delirium- Book Review ( So Cool!)

 Image Detail

Delirium- Book Review ( So Cool!)

The book that I just finished was Delirium by Lauren Olivier. The idea behind this book is weird but oddly cool. The setting is a futuristic dystopian society where they have considered love a disease that cause all the bad in the world. So what did they do find the cure for love. At 18 you get cured and then assigned a partner for marriage.

Here is the book trailer if this is something you feel like reading because the spoilers start now.
Image Detail
Spoilers-

I loved the quote used that Love hurts while your in it and hurts while your not. I just felt like it made you understand why people would think that way.  I loved Lena and Alex's relationship it really made Lena a better person. I honestly felt bad for her because her father was dead and her mother supposedly committed suicide but she didn't and everyone kept it a secret. You can sympathize with her because she never knew of love being anything but bad. Alex giving up his life for Lena to be free really shows you the extent of what love could be.

When she says at the end "I will try to resist there are many of us out there who refuse to stop believing who refuse to come to earth who love in a world without walls who love into hate into refusal against hope and without fear."

That made me want to cry especially when she said they couldn't take away their love. I think there might be a sequel and if there is I have to read it.

I loved this book and would totally recommend it.

The Hunger Games Movie -Review (Amazing)

The Hunger Games Movie -Review (Amazing)

I did read the book before seeing the movie which does make my understanding of it a lot better. I actually read it twice so that I could remember all the tributes names.

I felt that the movie was a pretty good interpretation of the book, there were some changes that I didn't like but we will get to that.

What I liked-
  • I loved how the scene of Peeta giving Katniss the bread was spread out I don't know why but I thought how they unveiled it was good.
  • I also liked how Katniss bought the pin and gave it to her sister it brought a little more depth and meaning to it.
  • The visuals were really stunning especially the capitol. I loved the girl on fire dress I was afraid it wasn't going to be done well but it was perfect!
  • Cinna was simply amazing that is all I have to say.
  • The cornucopia was cool I pictured a giant golden cornucopia unrealistic lol but this made more sense.
What I didn't like-
  • They didn't explain the mocking jay. How it refereed to the rebellion and really mocked the capitol.
  • Peeta lost his leg at the end of the book from the games and it really impacts Catching Fire, I know that is a weird thing to find wrong, okay I have problems but he needed to loose a leg.
  • Katniss straight out tells him it was all an act that she didn't love him (She kinda did though) That is how the book ends which makes you want to read the sequel so bad to see how they move on.
  • They didn't talk about Avox's which was talked a lot about because that is what happens to the traitors. Which at the end becomes a fear of Katniss' also her and Gale see them in the beginning.
  • Also they never mentioned the 13th district which is foreshadowing!
I loved this book and movie. If you only saw the movie and didn't read the book go read it and the sequel Catching Fire.

Weekly Review- The Vampire Diaries Ep317 Break On Through

The Vampire Diaries Ep317 Break On Through

Episode Summary

FAMILY HISTORIES - A century after their first encounter, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Sage (guest star Cassidy Freeman) meet again at the ceremony to kick-off the restoration of Wickery Bridge. Damon is surprised to learn the reason Sage has returned, and pleased when she devises an unusual method to help him figure out what Rebekah (guest star Claire Holt) is up to. Abby (guest star Persia White) is having a hard time adjusting to her new reality, despite Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Caroline's (Candice Accola) efforts to help. When Damon informs Elena (Nina Dobrev) of Stefan's (Paul Wesley) latest struggles, she reaches out to Stefan to help her save a friend in danger, in hopes that it will help bring Stefan even closer to his humanity. Finally, when Damon discovers a new secret weapon, he lets Stefan in on the news. Lance Anderson directed the episode written by Rebecca Sonnenshine.

My Review

Cassidy Freeman and Ian Somerhalder in THE VAMPIRE DIARIES - Episode 3.17 - Break On ThroughThe one thing you can always count on with Damon and the originals is that they are going to double cross each other. I kind of felt really bad for Sage for 900 years she waited for Fin and even when he came back he didn't want her. Alaric going crazy and trying to kill council members was okay I felt like the plot could have been better but he is saved by Bonnie for now. Bonnie's mother is just horrible. Her daughter needed her but she only cared about herself. I loved that Caroline got to try to help it really resolved some of her own parent issues that she didn't get to have when her father was turned. I enjoyed the whole Meredith story line I really liked the character from the books. I don't see much of point for the character in the show now that this is over. I thought this plot of Alaric going mad from the ring would make them have to bring Jeremy back but evidently not. It was so sad whe Elena called him and he moved on with his life.

I want Tyler and Jeremy to come back and for there to be some greater plot line than the Originals I am getting bored now!

I talk to you guys next week. The preview showed Damon and Stefan talking to Elena and Caroline about killing some originals let's see how that goes.

The Vow- Movie Review (Loved it)

Image Detail

The Vow Movie Review
Image Detail
I went to see this movie a couple weeks ago way past Valentines Day and I actually enjoyed it. I liked that it wasn't just a chick flick there was actual drama and comedy in it that made it good. Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams are both great actors who really brought the story to life and made you sympathize with the characters. The movies is based on true events which I found to be very cool. At certain times I thought McAdam's character was bitchy for not accepting the life she lived but I loved how even though she never really recovered her memory she still lived her life the way she was meant to be.
It was a pretty good movie that I recommend to see it wasn't just a couples movie I went to see it with two of my best friends! Shout out to Sam and Justine lol we got frozen yogurt before it! I was so full I didn't get popcorn this is crazy!

Everneath- Book Review (Loved it)

Image Detail

Everneath by Brodi Ashton Check out her blog! http://brodiashton.blogspot.com/p/everneath.html

Here is the summary of the book from her site if you have never heard of this book before!

Last spring, Nikki Beckett vanished, sucked into an underworld known as the Everneath, where immortals Feed on the emotions of despairing humans. Now she's returned- to her old life, her family, her friends- before being banished back to the underworld... this time forever.

She has six months before the Everneath comes to claim her, six months for good-byes she can't find the words for, six months to find redemption, if it exists.

Nikki longs to spend these months reconnecting with her boyfriend, Jack, the one person she loves more than anything. But there's a problem: Cole, the smoldering immortal who first enticed her to the Everneath, has followed Nikki to the mortal world. And he'll do whatever it takes to bring her back- this time as his queen

So I loved it and I would totally recommend it and if you haven't read it and want to don't read on!
Check out the book trailer

Now Review Time YaY!****Spoilers****

I really loved this modern take on Greek mythology in such a different way. Much like Beastly it put a unique spin on a well known story. It references the Hades Persephone myth if you don't know it google it lol! I loved the little love triangle going on between Cole, Nikki, and Jack. Throughout the novel I kind of wanted her to go with Cole I know that would mean giving up her soul but I genuinely felt he loved her in some twisted way. But by the end of the novel I began to really love Jack.

So omg the end I kind of saw it coming but didn't want it to. I would really love a sequel to happen to find a way to get Jack out of the Everneath but also for Nikki to fall for Cole. I am glad though that Nikki didn't go under because I felt so bad for her little brother who would have lost both his mother and sister.

I loved this book and would love to know what you thought of it!

Kiss Nail Dress Review! (So Pretty)

Image Detail

Image Detail
I didn't take the picture!

This is a great new alternative to nail polish. They are quick to put on once you first do a few and they last pretty long and you don't have to worry about chipping. Can be applied on both fingers and toes. They are funky and different from just plain old nail polish. There are foil ones and then the gem ones.

Application-

Follow the directions on the package!
But I have a few extra tips get a nail scissor or a regular scissor but one for nails is much more easier to work with.  You will need this to cut a away the excess. It says to file it away but if your nails aren't that long you will have a lot to file.

Also keep filing! If you have the gem one it might be a little hard but the rough edge will slowly go away!

Make sure you nails are clean with nothing on them!

Once on if they start coming off just press them down for a few seconds.

The Facts-

You get 28 strips and a nail file with a buffer side.

18 different styles.

Stays for 10 days.

Retails for $6.99 and is available in all major drug chains and mass retailers like WalMart, CVS and Walgreens.
